
Ameer Alli Death and Obituary, Hit and Run Victim Identified in Essequibo Coast
The victim of September 15, 2022, hit and run on the Essequibo Coast, has been identified as Ameer Alli, a 63-year-old vendor of lot 30 Adventure, Essequibo Coast. The media house learnt that the accident occurred between 8:30pm and 8:45pm last night, at Adventure.
Following an interview with family members earlier this morning, it was revealed that the man lived alone, and reportedly has no wife nor children. He was last seen alive last night on the eastern side of the public road while on his way to a family friend. Reports are that as he was proceeding north, he was struck down by a motor car, which was proceeding from the opposite direction.
As a result of the collision, Alli sustained severe injuries to his head, and both legs were reportedly broken. He was later pronounced dead at the Suddie Public Hospital. Although the vehicle fled the scene, the left side mirror, bearing registration number PWW 2293 was recovered from the scene.
Police are reportedly working with the Guyana Revenue Authority in an effort to obtain the identity of the vehicle’s owner. Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the driver involved, is asked to contact the police, or the victim’s family on 592-675-8335.
