Police are searching for the suspect who gunned down a pregnant woman and her unborn child the day before her baby shower. The victim was identified as Jennifer Hernandez, 20, who family members say was expecting a little boy and was so excited to welcome him into this world.
Now, the family is left to plan a funeral instead of a baby shower. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said Hernandez was with her 17-year-old boyfriend on September 16, 2022 when they were leaving a gas station along Airtex Drive and Ella Boulevard in Far North Harris County.
That’s when deputies said a white, four-door sedan with tinted windows and paper plates sped up next to them and shot into their car.
Their car had multiple bullet holes through the doors and windows. Hernandez was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The boyfriend who survived was shot twice and taken to the hospital.
Deputies said the incident may have been road rage, but the boyfriend who was driving said they had no prior interaction with the shooter.
The soon-to-be mom was preparing to open her own nail business and welcome a baby boy, her family told KTRK.
