I write with sad news. Jim Stahley who has been a friend and colleague for 18 years passed away last week. Many of you in the payments ecosystem knew Jim as a thoughtful and strategic executive whose passion at work was digital payments.

I am writing a sad message. Jim Stahley, a friend and colleague for 18 years, died last week.

Many in the payments ecosystem know Jim as a thoughtful strategic leader whose passion is digital payments.

Jim is at the forefront of the industry and an enduring advocate for customer choice and privacy. He has been involved in almost every major bank-led development and has helped position cards as the backbone of digital commerce.

Stahley has worked with industry leaders including Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Apple, Amazon, Google and Samsung.

He is a graduate of Swarthmore College and the Carlson School of Business. He is also a die-hard Alabama fan.

Jim was recently hospitalized with COVID-19 near his Florida home, where he cares for his elderly parents. His wife Angel survived.
