At approximately 2:49 a.m. on September 17, 2022, officers from the Florence Police Department were dispatched to a single-car rollover collision on Church Street, near June Lane.
Officers spoke with a passenger of that vehicle on the scene, but the driver was not in the vehicle. Florence Police Department and Florence Fire Department searched the area but could not locate the driver.
Approximately 15 minutes after the initial call, an officer responded to Ingram Street and Lawson Street regarding a report of an unresponsive person in the roadway. Officers found the deceased victim in the roadway. The Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Kentrey Levar White-Long.
Investigators believe Mr. White-Long was the driver from the single-car-collision on Church Street, and that he was struck after exiting his vehicle. The investigation indicates that the victim was possibly dragged or carried to the Ingram Street area and the suspect vehicle left the scene.
The suspect vehicle from the fatal hit-and-run collision on Church Street is believed to be a dark lifted 2014 to 2018 Chevrolet Silverado with a chrome toolbox in the bed, chrome aftermarket rims and a loud exhaust. The truck appears to have damage to the front passenger-side headlight area.
Traffic Investigators are working on determining the suspect’s route from the collision scene to the victim’s final location on Ingram Street.
