MORElia, Michoacán — Mrs. María Salud Ramírez Caballero, who inspired the character of Disney’s “Mamá Coco”, lost her life this Sunday.
The information was published on the social media accounts of the Minister of Tourism of Michoacán, Roberto Monroy García.
He said that “Mama Coco” was a tireless woman and he hoped that her family would find her resignation as soon as possible.
You must remember the famous Pixar movie “Coco”. Released in 2017, the film pays homage to the traditional Day of the Dead that is celebrated in Mexico in November.
Miguel, Ernesto de la Cruz or Héctor become unforgettable characters in the film. But there is no doubt that Miguel’s great-grandmother, Mama Coco, is probably the most remembered character and one of the most important in the development of history.
Believe it or not, Mama Coco exists in real life. It is about María Salud Ramírez Caballero, a 108-year-old grandmother whose life changes when she finds herself similar to the character in the film.
According to local media reports, María Salud lives in a small town called Santa Fe de la Laguna in the Mexican state of Michoacán.
The lady was born on September 16, 1913 and dedicated herself to a quiet family life in her town.
However, the life of the 108-year-old grandmother changed after its premiere in 2017.
According to Culture Collective Media, at first only her closest relatives noticed her resemblance to the character in the movie. But when a tourist visiting the area shared the photo of her on social media, the woman became famous as a movie.
The photo went viral and María Salud became a coco mom in real life.
