Metro/Nashville Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a suspicious death

Metro/Nashville Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a suspicious death. A body was found burned beyond recognition early Friday morning in a vehicle on Old Glenrose Avenue under the I-24 overpass.

Just after 5 a.m., a passing motorist saw the vehicle on the side of the road fully engulfed in flames. Nashville Fire Department personnel responded and as they were extinguishing the fire, they found a body in the backseat. Evidence at the scene suggests that the origin of the fire was suspicious.

Did someone start the fire in hopes of destroying evidence of a murder?

We’ll find out soon. The Medical Examiner is working to positively identify the deceased and determine the cause of death.
