Ohio’s Jim “Pee Wee” Martin, has passed away at the age of 101. PFC Jim “Pee Wee” Martin (G/560) one of the last surviving members of the famed 101st Airborne: the “Screaming Eagles” parachuted along with over 18,000 men of the US 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions and the British 6th Airborne Divisions behind enemy lines into Normandy France just hours before the D-Day invasion began.
Martin and his Band of Brothers serve as an inspiration to our grateful nation performing what he called “duty” through Normandy, Operation Market Garden, and the Battle of the Bulge. In this video ODVS did for the 75th anniversary of D-Day, listen to him explain why he feels he was just doing his job, and why he would do it all over again.
Although funeral arrangements are yet to be announced, it goes without saying that the family is dealing with devastating loss and could use your support. On behalf of the family, we are asking for your prayers, love and support during this difficult and painful time for them.
Little acts such as tributes and prayers can go a long way to heal the family of their loss and remind them the world still loves them.
