
BREAKING NEWS: The Renown ICC lawyer Mr. Paul Gicheru is dead. His son is hospitalised.
Closing arguments in Prosecutor v. Paul Gicheru are scheduled for June 27, 2022 at the headquarters of the International Criminal Court (“ICC” or “Court”) in The Hague, the Netherlands.
Mr. Gicheru’s Office of the Prosecutor and Defender is making a statement before Judge Miata Maria Samba of Trial Chamber III of the International Criminal Court.
Practical information, especially on how to attend or watch the final argument, will be provided closer to the hearing date.
On November 2, 2020, Paul Gicheru surrendered to Dutch authorities pursuant to an ICC arrest warrant sealed on March 10, 2015 and unsealed on September 10, 2015. On November 3, 2020, Paul Gicheru was handed over to the custody of the International Criminal Court after completing the prescribed national procedures.
His first court appearance is November 6, 2020. On February 1, 2021, he was released to Kenya under special conditions restricting his freedom. On 15 July 2021, Pre-Trial Chamber A of the International Criminal Court upheld the prosecution’s criminal charges against Paul Gicheru and put him on trial.
The trial begins on February 15, 2022. Prosecutors concluded their evidentiary hearing on March 29, 2022. The defense announced on April 25, 2022 that it would not give evidence.
