Peel region Ontario today, amber alert shooting now – active shooter in Mississauga
Multiple sources told Global News that the victim of the deadly Mississauga shooting was a Toronto police officer. Peel Regional Police said in a tweet that they responded to an incident in the Argentine Road and Winston Churchill Avenue area around 2:15 p.m. on Monday.
Police initially said one person had been shot, but updated the number to two shortly after 3.20pm. One person was taken to a trauma center. Paramedics told Global News that one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said they were looking for a bearded man wearing a construction vest. They said anyone who saw their car, a black Jeep Cherokee with a CLMZ 905 license plate, “absolutely must” call 911.
“The driver is believed to be armed and dangerous,” police said.
Emergency calls were made before 4:30pm.
Police also released photos of the suspects.
