Rolling Loud Shooting: Multiple people shot at Rolling Loud Festival in Toronto, Canada today.

Rolling Loud is an international hip-hop festival held in the United States, Europe, Australia and Canada. Founded in 2015, Complex is “one of the largest pure-rap music festivals in the world,” while Billboard calls it “the whole and end of a hip-hop festival.” In 2019, an estimated 210,000 people attended Miami events.

The festival was founded in 2015 by Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif, who met in elementary school in Hollywood, Florida. In high school, the pair began organizing and promoting parties with “heavy references to the mix of Southern and Midwestern rap.”

They transitioned to a professional live music event in 2010, starting with parties led by Rick Ross. Throughout the summer of 2013, they hosted monthly events in Miami featuring up-and-coming artists such as Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar.

The couple also promoted artists from Florida’s booming SoundCloud rap scene under the Dope Entertainment brand before realizing the need for a specific type of festival.

The first Rolling Loud took place in Miami, Florida in February 2015, and the day’s event included artists such as Schoolboy Q, Juicy J, Currensy and Action Bronson.

It happened at Soho Studios in the city’s Wynwood neighborhood, although the venue was temporarily flooded during the event due to rain.
