The victim from the fatal shooting on Wilson Avenue has been identified as Samuel Whitfield, 38 of Knoxville. The investigation revealed that a car of undetermined make and model drove past the house at 2717 Wilson Avenue and fired multiple shots at it.
Whitfield was struck by the gunfire and transported from the scene to the UT Medical Center in a personal vehicle. Whitfield died shortly after arriving at the UT Medical Center. Multiple potential witnesses have been interviewed by Violent Crimes Unit investigators, but no suspects have been arrested or charged at this time.
