Tani Bee, Renowned Albany Author Death and Obituary, Deceased Victim Killed in Hit-And-Run At Clinton Avenue

Detectives are investigating the death of a 31-year-old author in Albany. They say Tani Bee was hit by a car that didn’t stop Wednesday evening on Clinton Avenue.

Police are now searching for witnesses and surveillance video from anywhere along Clinton Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Bee is the author of a novel titled “Caught in the Storm” that was published in 2018. On her Amazon page, she said she was born in Brooklyn, but was now living in upstate New York.

Road conditions and visibility were good at the time. There were many people of all ages out on the street who witnessed the tragedy.

According to police, Bee was crossing Clinton Avenue northbound on foot when a car slammed into her in the middle of the road near North Swan Street. The driver kept going eastbound, down the hill toward the Palace Theatre.

Why the driver didn’t stop remains unclear. Albany police spokesman Steve Smith calls the incident “very disturbing.”
