Victims Identified in Shooting Incidence Near Richfield High School

On September 23, 2022 at approximately 8:45 p.m. Richfield High School was hosting their homecoming football game at their football field, 7001 Harriet Avenue South, in Richfield, MN.

A school staff member advised an on-site police officer that school officials had turned away a number of individuals from game entry that appeared to be waiting for the game to end.

The individuals were gathered a short distance northeast of the football field.
The on-site police officer drove to the area of the individuals, heard two gunshots, and saw numerous people running from the scene.

Two victims with non-life threatening gunshot wounds were located near the northeast entrance gate of the football field: a 21-year-old male and an 18-year-old male. The 18-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital.

The incident remains active. Officers have secured the scene to collect evidence and interview witnesses. A suspect has not yet been identified or located. No other information is available at this time.
